Posture Ellie - Marie Claire - Free 7 Day Posture Challenge - Egoscue Method - Correct Bad Posture

What is the Free 7 Day Posture Challenge by Posture Ellie?

I’d really like to think that, if you’re here and reading this, that you’ve already completed my FREE 7 Day Posture Challenge?

If not, what are you waiting for?

Sign up to it immediately – you’ve nothing to lose! Upon sign up to the 7 Day Posture Challenge, you’ll receive an email from me every day for a week containing one, ‘simple’ posture exercise to do. It will take you maximum of 15 mins a day and will hopefully make a noticeable difference in how you feel. You may well be quite surprised as to how tough you find some seemingly easy looking posture exercises … like Rebecca did in her Marie Claire article below.

I created the Free 7 Day Posture Challenge to help posture newbies have a taste of a) what posture exercises are like b) how/why they are different to other types of exercise and c) what a daily posture habit feels like.

The 7 Day Posture Challenge in itself isn’t going to change your life … but it may spark the interest in a daily posture habit that WILL change your life!

What I am trying to teach those who are new to posture is that the magic of posture does not lie in doing a few ‘perfect’ exercises a couple of times, but lies in gently restoring your relationship with your body, which happens long term, with the everyday choices we make in our habits.

I have the tough job of trying to encourage my audience to embrace the slow, journey back to understanding their body, restoring movement and reducing pain. No quick fixes, silver bullets or posture braces here, just day by day, month by month, year by year, giving your body a little bit of love and movement everyday.

This is where the magic happens … but it’s hard to encourage most people to make this time for themselves in a frantic world where our health is often at the bottom of an already extremely long to-do list.

I really try hard to offer services which make this slow journey as bite-sized and palatable .. and the Free 7 Day Posture Challenge is a great place to start.

I would hope that, by signing up to the 7 Day Posture Challenge that you might be inspired to read ‘Pain Free’ by Pete Egoscue and perhaps sign up to my 12 Week Introduction to Posture course, Foundations.

What did Rebecca Shepherd from Marie Claire UK think of The 7 Day Posture Challenge?

Marie Claire UK - Rebecca Shepherd - Posture Ellie - 7 Day Posture Challenge - Egoscue Method

I decided to reach out to Rebecca and see if she might be interested in trying the posture challenge out … and she was happy to oblige!

You can read the results of her experience in the full Marie Claire article here (published 13th March 2024).

She dutifully completed each day of the posture challenge and felt like she had given herself a mini-posture MOT … which you can do too!

Here she is (above) in one of my FAVOURITE all-time posture exercises, “Upper Spinal Floor Twist” (which is Day 5 of the Posture Challenge). Upper Spinal Floor Twist wrings out the thoracic area and opens up the chest/shoulders whilst the hips stabilise.

An observation with Rebecca’s technique above (sorry Rebecca if you’re reading this! But please do try again to experience the difference subtle changes can make. And there are so many cues that it does take time to perfect them all) is, can you notice how Rebecca’s knees aren’t neatly stacked on top of each other? This means her pelvis is also rotating along with her upper spine and she’s compensating in the movement. If she had her knees neatly stacked, she’d notice a lot more work/stretching in the upper body (because it would be rotating on an axis independently of the pelvis) and she may even have noticed her hip flexors switch on to stabilise her pelvis.
