How Creative Boom found & featured me ...

A few months ago, I was a little surprised (and, I have to admit, a bit excited!) to see that the Creative Boom Instagram account started following me. With over 100k followers, it was kind of a big deal to little ol’ me!

I was curious as to why I had had the follow, but didn’t think too much of it at the time.

Then, shortly after, Katy (who is the Founder of Creative Boom and runs it with her husband) reached out to me to thank me for creating my Free 7 Day Posture Challenge … as she speaks about freely on the podcast episode I feature in, Katy has been suffering over the last 6 months with quite severe, debilitating sciatic and disc herniation pain, which has really been impacting her quality of life.

On her quest to find answers and relief for herself, she had, as with many in pain before her, stumbled across The Egoscue Method and, at some point, found me via my YouTube Channel. Probably lots of you reading this are the same!

She had taken part in my Free 7 Day Posture Challenge (and enjoyed it) and, after a short little Instagram conversation, I also suggested she try the two free 30 min corrective posture routines I offer on The Posture Squad page (scroll to the bottom to find them – maybe they’ll entice you to sign up?)

I think she found even more relief from the 30 mins ‘Balance 1’ Posture Squad routine than she had through the 7 Day Posture Challenge and really wanted to offer her thanks to me by featuring me in a posture based article to help the creative industry with their neck pain, bad backs and carpal tunnel syndrome.

I jumped at the chance!

Appearing on the Creative Boom podcast!

Even more luckily for me, Katy wasn’t sick and tired of me after running the article.

The article went down well with her audience and so she kindly agreed to have me on her podcast!

So, in mid-March, I headed off to Cheshire (where Katy lives) and to film the podcast in her house.

I gave her a 1-2-1 Appointment beforehand to help her understand my methodology a bit better but, also in order to help her sit for the podcast (sitting for long periods has been a struggle for her since her injury sadly).

We discovered that her sciatica through her left leg was being caused by a lack of movement through her left arm and left shoulder. And, by giving her some upper body focused exercises, we managed to get her pain levels down long enough for her to sit still for the podcast – woo!

I really hope you enjoy my appearance on The Creative Boom podcast.

I would LOVE to do more podcast recordings. As someone who a) talks a lot b) works in a field that is really hard to describe in short, bite-size chunks. Posture Therapy is the antithesis of all the click-baity ‘quick-fix’ and ‘1  minute to cure your neck pain’ type videos you’ll see on Instagram and YouTube.

Posture therapy work is about the slow, restoration of movement back to your muscles but also the slow, restoration of self-compassion to give your body what it needs. This really takes a long time and a lot of hard work, but, ask anyone who dives into it, is absolutely worth it.

I think posture therapy therefore suits the type of person who will take the time to listen to a 1 hour podcast (more than someone searching for something like “10 min video to cure back pain” on YouTube).

If you (or someone you know) has a podcast and is looking for guests – please send me their way! I really would love to do more podcast recordings!

Thank you Katy, thank you Creative Boom and thank you to The Creative Boom readers/listeners for giving Katy enough kind feedback about my article/exercises that she wanted to have me on the podcast!
